Your next £100 of pay: you keep £63. That is 37% with the loan against 28% without it, and payroll checks each month separately against £2,448.75.

Questions

Common questions

How much do I repay on Plan 2?

9% of what you earn above £29,385 a year, and nothing on the pay below it. On £35,000 that is £5,615.00 above the threshold, so £505.00 a year or £42.08 a month.

What happens if I have two loans?

An undergraduate plan and a Postgraduate Loan are repaid at the same time: 9% above the undergraduate threshold and 6% above £21,000 for the Postgraduate Loan. Two undergraduate plans are not repaid twice — payroll uses the lowest threshold you hold.

Does a pay rise change my repayment every month?

Yes, because payroll checks each pay period against the threshold for that period — £2,448.75 a month on Plan 2. A month where you earn less than that takes no repayment, even if the year as a whole is above the yearly threshold.
