Where your $60,008 goes
| Year | Month | Week | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gross pay | $60,008.00 | $5,000.67 | $1,154.00 |
| Employee CPF | −$12,000.00 | −$1,000.00 | −$230.77 |
| Income tax (billed by IRAS) | −$1,040.56 | −$86.71 | −$20.01 |
| Take-home pay | $46,967.44 | $3,913.95 | $903.22 |
Each figure in the Month and Week columns is the year's figure divided by 12 or 52 and rounded to the cent on its own, so a column can be a cent away from its own total.
What these figures are, and what they are not
Your employer takes employee CPF from each month's wages: on your ordinary pay up to the monthly Ordinary Wage ceiling, and on a bonus or one-off payment up to the year's Additional Wage ceiling, at the rates for your CPF status and age. Any self-help group contribution is a few dollars a month, taken the same way. Nothing else is taken from your pay.
The year is your rate times your hours times the weeks of a year, so it is an even year of those hours. Your own payslips can differ: a week of overtime is paid at a rate this page does not know, and a week you do not work is not paid at all.
Common questions
How is income tax worked out in Singapore?
On your income for the whole year, assessed by IRAS after the year ends: your 2026 income is taxed in Year of Assessment 2027. A tax resident pays nothing on the first $20,000 of chargeable income, then rates rising from 2% to 24% on income above $1,000,000. Income tax is not taken from your pay; IRAS sends you a bill.
How is an hourly wage taxed in Singapore?
The same way as a salary. CPF is taken from each calendar month's wages, and the year's income tax is billed by IRAS after the year ends. This page works out a full, even year of the hours you give it and divides that year back into an hour, a week and a month.
How much CPF do I pay?
As a Citizen, or a Permanent Resident from the third year, aged 55 or under, you pay 20% of your wages and your employer adds its own share on top, 37% in all. CPF on your ordinary pay stops at the Ordinary Wage ceiling of $8,000 a month, and CPF on all your wages for the year stops at $102,000. A foreigner pays no CPF.
