Compare two salaries or job offers (2026)
Put two job offers side by side and see the take-home pay for each, after CPF and the year's income tax.
Your employer's share of CPF is paid on top of each salary into your CPF accounts and is not part of your take-home, so it is not in this comparison.
| Offer A | Offer B | Better | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Take-home a month | $3,913.33 | $4,285.33 | B |
| Take-home a year | $46,960.00 | $51,424.00 | B |
| Marginal rate | 18.2% | 18.2% | — |
Where each offer's money goes
What these figures are, and what they are not
Your employer takes employee CPF from each month's wages: on your ordinary pay up to the monthly Ordinary Wage ceiling, and on a bonus or one-off payment up to the year's Additional Wage ceiling, at the rates for your CPF status and age. Any self-help group contribution is a few dollars a month, taken the same way. Nothing else is taken from your pay.
Common questions
Is a higher salary always better?
Not always by as much as it looks. Each extra dollar pays CPF up to the ceilings and income tax at your band's rate, so the table shows what each offer leaves you and the rate on your next dollar of each.
How is income tax worked out in Singapore?
On your income for the whole year, assessed by IRAS after the year ends: your 2026 income is taxed in Year of Assessment 2027. A tax resident pays nothing on the first $20,000 of chargeable income, then rates rising from 2% to 24% on income above $1,000,000. Income tax is not taken from your pay; IRAS sends you a bill.
How much CPF do I pay?
As a Citizen, or a Permanent Resident from the third year, aged 55 or under, you pay 20% of your wages and your employer adds its own share on top, 37% in all. CPF on your ordinary pay stops at the Ordinary Wage ceiling of $8,000 a month, and CPF on all your wages for the year stops at $102,000. A foreigner pays no CPF.
